Overview

In the beginning...

  • Prompted by a student request
  • World's longest pilot -- 2008-2015
  • A couple of champions and "sides of desks"
  • Uncertainty and unclear institutional commitment

Moving on up..

  • Implementation 2015-2017
  • Some dedicated support
  • Automated the account creation/single sign-on from Moodle
  • Assignment submissions (pros and cons)
  • Student support via the Learning Centre
  • A new custom theme (in the works as we speak)
  •  Still on the wish list:
    • Increased support (.25 time evaporates quickly)
    • Retention policy
    • Transition plan

Into the Future...

  • Scaling up to support an entire faculty
  • Ongoing technology discussions
  • A home for employee open badges?

Mahara Assignments in Moodle

For instructors

The Mahara Assignment Submission plug-in creates a Mahara portfolio option for instructors in the Moodle assignment set up. Instructors can choose whether or not to "lock" the submitted work so students can't make changes until the assessment is completed.
