Is there a way to manage an individuals ability to communicate with others? In the event that a user cannot be civil in conversation can we simply turn that feature off for that person rather than suspending them which prevents them from using their eportfolio entirely.

Hello Keith,

I'm not aware of anyone having developed that feature yet. You can only determine the default settings for the messaging but not prevent users to change them at the moment.

Cheers

Is this something that is being considered for a future release.

Hello Keith,

At Mahara HQ we don't have an immediate plan to implement this feature, but if there is funding available, we would certainly consider it. This might be a piece for some more review of the "roles" that are in Mahara and what they allow you to do or don't. Currently, there is no way to turn on or off certain capabilities (to use the terminology that many may be familiar with from Moodle). Having more control over who can do what has come up at times. If you wish to have your ideas recorded, you can create a wishlist item at https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+filebug

Cheers

Kristina
