Hi,

I have been waiting for a plugin that allows the submission of mahara collections through moodle assignment and I am told that the correct plug in is now in place. However on testing I am not seeing collection submission working as expected. My Moodle environment is Moodlerooms Joule V2.7.3 (Build 20141110) and the mahara plugin is assignsubmission_mahara

Can you advise?

Hello Teresa,

I don't think you have the correct assignment plugins installed. I can't see your build number on https://moodle.org/plugins/view/assignsubmission_mahara

Please check with your provider. I suspect that they still have a different version of the plugin installed before we made collections available. While they are at it, they should also install the feedback plugin that goes with the submission plugin as mentioned in the text. Both are in the Moodle plugin directory in their most current version.

Hi, here's an update. Moodlerooms have added the collections submission plug in to our sandbox site and are currently upgrading the mahara database . The plugin details are 

so it looks like we're heading in the right direction, I will get back when I have tested.

Yep, that's the right edition of the plugin. :)

It's a bit strange they installed the 1.0-mdl2.8 version, though, because we released 1.1-mdl2.8 back in April.

Well, the version of the plugin that is in the Moodle.org plugin database, is now the correct one to go with. So presumably they're monitoring that and will keep it up to date eventually.

Our production site is yet to have updates applied to move to Moodle v2.8 so maybe there's more to come yet. I have just tried testing the assignment plug in though and I still cannot see my collections, only pages see https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzN7PmYbg0TwaWVYODJwd2V5T1k/view?usp=sharing

The plugin is enabled and I think the settings are correct. Can you see where i am going wrong here?

Hello Teresa,

Since you are on 1.9, a patch needs to be applied to Mahara: "If you are using Mahara 1.9 or earlier, apply the patch "mahara-patch.txt" to your Mahara site." You can get the file from https://github.com/MaharaProject/moodle-assignsubmission_mahara This might be the missing link if you have the latest version of the Moodle plugin.

many thanks for this prompt reply. I have passed it back to Moodlerooms as our production site is due to be upgraded so I may then discover if we are also getting the newer version of mahara. Will keep you posted :)

Hi Teresa & Kristina,

Yes, the patch file specifically adds support for collections. So it's a strong bet that's the problem. I haven't done extensive testing without the patch... but I tried to write things in a backwards-compatible manner, so if you don't have that patch, everything should still work except without collections support.

We've used that patch in production sites here at Catalyst IT (the primary developers of Mahara), so Moodlerooms can have some confidence that it won't cause problems.

The functionality in that patch was upstreamed into Mahara 1.10, so you only need it if you're on 1.9 or earlier.
