There's a new Moodle bug tracker ticket for replacing MNet: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-40905

Moodle HQ has been planning to deprecate and replace MNet for a few years now, and they want to make sure to work in concert with Mahara to avoid any loss in functionality. I've listed what I think are the standard use-cases for Mnet in Mahara. If I've missed anything, please feel free to join in the discussion and fill in what's missing.

Hello,

Please find the high-level proposal for the MNet replacement on the Moodle tracker. Comments are welcome. We kept it to a high-level overview for the time being to gauge buy-in from the community and also Moodle HQ before going into details. The new way will be generic enough for plugin developers and others to develop their own integration points and also for Mahara to connect to systems other than Moodle.
