Testing mobile uploads on demo site?
05 March 2013, 10:33
Hello. I have been trying to get PortfolioUp and MaharaDroid working at my institution, with no luck so far. We get an error message similar to the one metioned here: https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=4162
Our developers think it might be related to our single-sign-on set up.
So, I'm trying to test these apps on the demo.mahara.org site, to make sure it's not user error on my part. Again, no luck. I may be confused about what should go in the "URL" setting field in each app.
It's not the main site's addy, like demo.mahara.org, but it must be the full path to the files area... with the http:// or https:// prefix... is this correct? (I feel like I've tried both.)
Thank you!

Hi Sean,
It's not documented very well, but for MaharaDroid it needs to be the full URL with the protocol and the path to the mobileupload.php file, like this: https://master.dev.mahara.org/artefact/file/mobileupload.php
I haven't used PortfolioUp, but from the instructions on their site it looks ilke you probably just need the protocol and domain name, like this: https://master.dev.mahara.org
Cheers,
Aaron

Thank you for the reply, Aaron.
Unfortunately, I still can't get it working. I tried both of those URL paths on PortfolioUp and MaharaDroid (using "student1" as the username).
PortfolioUp tells me the URL does not exist, and MaharaDroid tells me the connection failed.
Could there be something else going on? Is the demo site configured to accept mobile uploads?

Turns out the dev site isn't set up for HTTPS. So, you need the url to be just HTTP:
- Mahardroid: http://master.dev.mahara.org/artefact/file/mobileupload.php
- PortfolioUp: http://master.dev.mahara.org
I've got MaharaDroid working on my phone with this URL right now! :)
Cheers,
Aaron

Hi Sean,
You can use http://demo.mahara.org with mobile uploads. The site is set up to accept them. I tested the site with MaharaDroid and it worked well. You need to ensure though that you set the same mobile upload token that you supply in MaharaDroid also in your account settings. Otherwise, it doesn't work.
Please see the video at http://code.google.com/p/maharadroid/ for the instructions and a demo of the application. Don't worry that it's for MaharaDroid 1.7. It still works pretty much the same for 1.8.
The URI would be http://demo.mahara.org/artefact/file/mobileupload.php
Cheers
Kristina
