Scratch Programming Plugin
12 January 2013, 13:13
Scratch is free programming software that lets you make interactive games. It is used an awful lot in the UK in schools http://info.scratch.mit.edu/About_Scratch
Is anyone working on a plugin that would allow you the opportunity to play the game embedded in a Mahara page. You can embed scratch games from their site but it uses applets which will not work in text boxes.
I believe there was a plugin ages ago on Moodle for scratch https://moodle.org/plugins/view.php?plugin=filter_scratch
Any suggestions or advice greatfully received, thanks

Hello Gideon,
There is a wishlist item at https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/931332
But you should be able to use the external resource plugin and have Scratch applets displayed, cf. the discussion at https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=4359#post19559
The embed code for Scratch is <applet> which is stripped out of Mahara. A special filter could be created for the core code for it to be allowed through. It were easier if it were an iframe...

Thank you so much (again!) Kristina. It is annoying that it is not an <iframe> as how much easier would this be!
I have had a quick look at Laurent’s Plug-in. We run Mahara v1.5 – do you think this will work on it – I am not sure how best to contact him?
Sorry

Hello Gideon,
Laurent works in Switzeland for the Univeristy of Geneva. You can contact him through his Mahara.org account or directly at <Laurent[dot]Opprecht[at]unige.ch.
You can refer to me we know and have worked altogether.
But for a quick answer, YES, Laurent's plugin is working on 1.5 and 1.6. There is also a will that Laurent takes time to embed it into the Mahara core, but I know he is quite busy at the moment.
Cheers,

I downloaded the plugin thanks to WebAnywhere.
It works very well with Google Maps and embedding pdfs but I cannot get it to work with Slideshare or Scratch an djust creates a hyperlink ot the site. When I try to link it to Flickr it just hangs.
The video link shows you what I mean - http://screenr.com/QCR7
I will contact Laurent directly to see if there is a fix as things might have changed in nearly 11 months (unless you know why I am getting this?)
