Mahara 1.5.2 Institution Theme
03 September 2012, 19:37
Hi All,
I've recently upgraded our Uni's version of Mahara from 1.4.1 to 1.5.2. One of the interesting items I noticed in the changelog was the following:
* Support for institution logos to replace the site header logo
* New institution theme with configurable colours
However I can't find where these two items can be set and changed - there's no Institution theme in the Theme area of site settings. How can I access these?
Cheers,
Scott

Hello Scott,
These changes only refer to a theme that you can set for an institution but not for the entire site.
http://manual.mahara.org/en/1.5/site_admin/institutions.html#new15-change-the-institution-logo
The "site logo" refers to the logo that is seen but within the context of an institution.
I filed a wishlist item at https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/1046761 because it would be nice to be able to use it on the entire site. It is not a bug because the theme was designed and funded as institution theme for viewing the site but not as site theme.
Cheers

Thanks Kristina - I must have misunderstood the change list :)
Cheers for clearing that up!

Hi Scott,
No worries. Sometimes the commit messages can be a bit cryptic, and it is worthwhile checking back.

It seems you may have to pay to change your e-portfolio theme for the newer versions i.e. 1.5. See Maharathemes.com http://www.maharathemes.com/themes/1/
Some are downloadable, others are $45.00 a theme!!!

Hi Sarah,
Mahara is not charging for themes. It still comes with eight different themes, and there are others shared by members of the community. A few of them are listed here: https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/Themes/Contributed_themes
The maharathemes.com site is run by a Mahara Partner (an independent company that contributes to the Mahara project, see https://mahara.org/partners ) selling additional themes that they've designed.
Cheers,
Aaron
