Hello. I'm running Mahara 1.4.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 Development branch, with postgresql 9.1. I installed the official repository package. Mahara runs like a clock, almost with zero configuration. I managed to make blogs, groups and pages public, thanks to the wiki and the forums. I would like to know if there's a way to have a dashboard, for the logged out page. I would like to show there, the latest activity in any public group, show the latest public files available, latest public blog post, and so on. Is it possible with standar features, or should I have to do some programming. I've found some post that had similar request, though not exactly.  "How to make a dynamic mahara front page?" https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=1933   and "Customizing Theme etc." https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=56 but since both have some time without activity, I was wondering if is it some how easier now, with 1.4.x versions. Thanks in advance.

Hello Ale,

Without customization you cannot achieve a public dashboard. Melissa started working on a showcase of popular pages https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/901894 with which you can display public pages or pages for logged-in users. But I am not aware of anything else in particular in regard to groups.

Cheers

Kristina

Ok. Thank you Kristina, I will take a look next week again, and will try Melissa's patch. I got the approval for a beta test, public view of public made items, is important for us.  We are trying to replace ELGG, wich turned out to be extremely slow, and as much users there are connected, it gets worst.

Hi Ale,

Please do be aware that the patch that kristina linked to is still pretty much Alpha and didn't get into a state suitable for 1.5 before the freeze.  The full thing is not going to be in core mahara until 1.6 at least, when it with have a lot more functionality.

Thanks,
Melissa
