Hello Mahara translators,

We learned that Launchpad is sunsetting bzr to 11 December 2025, which was used to manage code. This will impact our translations because they did go through bzr before getting into our Git for processing.It will not be possible any more to have the translations accessed via API to update our language packs automatically or push new strings into the translations. So until we've settled on a new option, there will be delays in seeing new strings as everything would need to be done manually.

We've learned of that change only very recently by accident, and have been looking into alternatives. One of them is Weblate that has all the features that we typically need, including fuzzy translation, discussion around strings, intuitive interface etc.

Our friends in the Koha community use it, and the translators that I talked with are pretty happy.

We are currently undergoing a security review to determine if we can use the hosted option rather than setting it up on our own, which would help us not needing to maintain a software that is not part of our core business.
