Hi everyone,

This question had come up in a conversation with some organisations using Mahara: How can you enable the spell checker for TinyMCE?

If I remember correctly, there was a file where TinyMCE plugins could be enabled, but I don't remember where that is in the latest version.

Thank you

Kristina

In older versions of Mahara and TinyMCE there was an option one could enable in your Mahara config.php file called the 'tinymcespellcheckerengine' that would display the spell check button in a TinyMCE instance and let you choose the spell checker engine to use to check over the content in the TinyMCE.

But once TinyMCE began having a paid for versus free version the spell checker plugin was only available for the paid version (see TinyMCE documentation) and for the free version (which is used in Mahara) it utilises the 'browser_spellcheck' setting where the browser itself does spellchecking (if the browser has that enabled).

Cheers

Robert

Thank you, Robert. No wonder I couldn't find any config file like in the past.

Cheers
