Hello

We've just upgraded to v 22.10.6 and I cannot find how to enable secret URLs.  I get:

Your institution or site administrator has disabled public pages and secret URLs. Any secret URLs you see listed here are currently inactive.

I had the same issue with the dev site when it was upgraded last week but that seems to have sorted itself (but I don't know which setting).

Hi Marion,

There are two options:

  • The site admin set the option 'Allow public portfolios' to 'No' in the 'Access settings' in the 'Site options'.
  • The site or institution admin set the option 'Public institution portfolios' to 'No' in the institution settings.

Cheers

Thank you Kristina

I already have the first setting 'Allow public profiles' set to Yes.   I don't have the second option because all of our users are on one institution which is actually the main site.  Both these settings are the same on our dev and live sites.

We do have other institutions on both sites but they are not used and have no members. However they all have the setting 'Public institution portfolios' at Yes.

Hi Marion,

Then unfortunately, I don't know how to fix the issue. Please consult your IT support who fixed the issue last time I assume.

Best,

Kristina

Hello

It turns out the issue was not fixed on our dev site - just that the internal admin account was not affected.

It seems to have something to do with all other accounts existing on the main site but not in any institution, or vice versa.

Hi Marion,

Did you check the institution settings and not just the site settings? If your site admin account is not in an institution and just in 'No institution' and you allow public URLs there but don't allow them in the institution settings for your other institutions, the members of the institution wouldn't be able to use them.

Please double check the settings. If you don't have any code customisations, I'm pretty sure it would be the institution settings that differ.

Cheers

Thank you Kristina

Yes, both site settings and institution settings were as you specified. Creating a new institution solved the issue.  (It threw up a different issue with authentication but that's another story ... and it's been sorted now).
