Upgrade from 21.04 to 22.10 - Metadata auto-refresh failed
15 November 2022, 1:27
Hello everyone,
I recently upgraded our 'Test' site from 21.04 to 22.10
All appears to have gone well, however I'm now receiving 2 emails almost every hour with a subject that contains 'Metadata auto-refresh failed'
The message body goes on to state:
---------------------------
The auto-refresh of the SAML metadata could not be completed.
Check the cron log for more information. The error response may appear below:
Error moving "/tmp/simplesaml/1150473746" to
"/media/data-drive/oursitename.domain.ac.uk/metadata/refresh/saml20-idp-remote.php":
no error available
---------------------------
The cron log doesn't offer anything in addition to the above, as far as I can see.
Some hours pass without warning, so I assume the error is intermittent, maybe 5 in every 24 hours pass without warning.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Many thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,
The error suggests that you have a URL in the metadata auto-refresh field in your SAML config. Did you check that the URL can be reached? Did you also check that the directory can be written to?
Thanks
Kristina
