Hello,

after a marriage sometimes the last name is changing. We are looking for a solution for changing a person´s name in Mahara and couldn´t find it till now. Has anyone a clue?

Hi Elisabeth,

If you are using 'internal' authentication, the person can change their name themselves in their profile settings: Account menu -> Profile, provided, you did not block them from editing their name.

If you are using an external authentication method such as SAML, LDAP, MNet or LTI, and it is set up to update the record (LTI does that automatically), then the new name will be brought along the next time they log in.

In either case, if you want to update their name (and email address), you could upload a CSV file with the changes and update the record that way via Admin menu -> People -> Add people by CSV.

If you also want to change the username, you would need to do that manually before they log in or a second account will be created.

Dear Kristina,

thanks a lot for naming the options. 

We are using an external authentication method, so it was a cruisal information, that the new name will be changed the next time the person log in. Thanks also for the option with the CSV file and updating the record.

Now it is clear!
