Heads up: Change Git branch 'master' to 'main'
18 August 2021, 13:13
Hi everyone,
Over the last year, many organisations and projects renamed their main repository branches from 'master' to 'main' to support efforts in the area of equity and inclusion. It is important to us that everybody feels welcome to contribute in the community, no matter their background and areas of expertise and interest. We are planning on making this change with the Mahara 21.10 release, due in the second half of October 2021, and wanted to give you heads up so you can review your own integrations to ensure as smooth a transition as possible.
This change will impact all Mahara project team managed branches. Mahara Mobile has already been updated, but the others need to follow:
- git.mahara.org
- mirrors to GitHub and GitLab.com, NZOSS
- Code review system and Jenkins integration
- Launchpad integration for translations
- translation branches if applicable
- Mahara manual
There are likely no changes for the majority of you as you will be working with the Git branches for supported versions of Mahara rather than our main branch that is the development branch. If you do work with the main branch though, please make note of this upcoming change. We will update you once the change has been made so you can alter any integrations if needed.
Thank you
Kristina

Hi everyone,
Today, we started with the renaming of the 'master' branch to 'main'. While some changes still need to be made, the main one, the integration with our code review system, is done.
Please follow the instructions to update your local developer environment so that you are pulling from the correct branch and also have your normal post-checkout Gerrit hook updated.
Thank you
Kristina
