Hi,

We would like to use smart evidence as a common metric to evaluate students from multiple schools and departments.

I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Currently, I am using both the institution and the group.

Is it possible to achieve the goal by using only one of the institution or the group?

Also, is my operation method wrong?

Thing you want to do.

Use smart evidence as a common rating scale.
Use smart evidence in multiple schools and departments.
Students and teachers are managed by school or department.
Students enter a self-assessment of smart evidence.
The teacher will judge and evaluate whether the self-evaluation submitted by the student meets the evaluation criteria of smart evidence.
Only the teacher in charge can see the student's self-evaluation.
Student self-assessment should not be visible to other students.

The operation method I am thinking of.
I create smart evidence.
I create institution by school and department.
Link institution with smart evidence.
Set students as members of the institution and teachers as staff.
Create groups by school or department.
Make students belong to the group as members and teachers as tutors.
Set to publish student-created collections to group tutors.
Students enter self-assessment of smart evidence into annotations.
Students send the collection for evaluation to the group to which their teacher belongs.
Teachers enter ratings for students and release collections.

Hi AB-Net,

I'm not sure that you need to put your students and teachers into different institutions. Groups may be fine on their own. If only teachers are to see the portfolio, then you have two options:

  1. Students submit their portfolio (as we discussed in another forum topic)
  2. Students are not members of the group but share the portfolio with the group in which only their teacher is.

This second option wouldn't work if you want to automatically copy the portfolio to students as they would need to be members of the group in order to receive it.

Best,

Kristina
