Difference between Launchpad and langpacks.mahara.org
19 May 2020, 20:24
Hi all,
I was just wondering how much time there is between updating a language pack on Launchpad and the availability of those changes in the .tar.gz files available on the langpacks.mahara.org site.
I recently updated the Dutch language pack so it is 100% complete, but the downloadable tarball is older than my changes. Is there a rule of thumb on how long one would have to wait?
Thanks!

Hi Joost,
Typically, changes are pushed into the language pack within 36h, depending on the timing. This is what happens:
- You translate some text in Launchpad or upload a new translation file.
- Once a day, Launchpad exports that into an export branch. I think this typically happens in the evening New Zealand time.
- After that, our translation script picks up those changes from the export branch. This happens once a day.
The web interface may not always display the latest change as that page is cached. If you use the CLI script, you'll always have the most up to date language pack that is available.
Best,
Kristina
