Massive importation of page/collection to all users
23 May 2018, 23:25
Dear all,
I would like to ask if is there a certain way, as administrator of the Mahara platform, to massively import pages/collection to all the users profile,
I would like our users to have a default collection so that they work on it,
I already know that it is possible to let them individually import the collection, but I would rather prefer that I do it massively to all the users,
Does any one know if it is possible or if I need to install a certain plugin ?
Many thanks

Hi Mario,
There is an option where you can make a site page and set the advanced option of 'Copy for new users' so that any new users get a copy.
See: http://manual.mahara.org/en/18.04/administration/config_site.html#site-pages-and-collections
And: http://manual.mahara.org/en/18.04/administration/config_site.html#share
That option will not automatically copy it for existing users but if you also share the page / collection with 'registered users' and also 'allow copying' then existing users can make a copy of it themselves via their 'Shared with me' page,
see: http://manual.mahara.org/en/18.04/portfolio/shared.html
Note - those links are for 18.04 version of Mahara - if you version is different please go to http://manual.mahara.org/ and navigate from there
Cheers

Hey Robert,
Many thanks for your reply,
It is actually working fine,
I still need to ask you one more question,
I created a site collection and authorized it to be automatically copied to new users and one of the page of this collection contains the URLs of the other pages. The problem is that these URLs are static or fix, and when new user get a copy of this collection, the page that contains the URLs will point to the original pages of the collection,
How it is possible to fix this ?
Thanks.

Hello Mario,
What do you mean by "contains the URLs of the other pages"? If you put links to the pages in the collection in a text block or used the "Navigation" block, they are not automatically changed to the new collection but still point to the original one. There is no mechanism in Mahara to re-write these URLs.
Since it seems that all your pages are part of the collection, why not use the "Page navigation" option when you set up a collection or change its settings, which will give you a navigation bar for the collection? That'll always be correct for the pages within the specific collection.
Cheers
