Hello,

yesterday I tried to upgrade from version 17 to 18.04.0.

There were big problems because the message came when the database was upgraded: "a table does not have the collation of the database".

I then looked at the backup of the database. Some tables had charset and collation utf8, other tables and the database itself had charset and collation utf8mb4.

After many attempts with the stream editor "sed" I finally managed to switch everything to utf8. A conversion to utf8mb4 did not work (error message: key is too long).

Of course, I wonder how these problems came about.

Hi Ralph,

Are you using Mysql? Did you have the same issue as explained in this forum post?

Hello Cecilia,

yes. but it was worse here. it was not about the conversion to utf8, but about the mixture between utf8 and utf8mb4.
