Mahara Mobile App file sizes

Dear all,

I am working with a group of students who are using the Mahara Mobile app to upload photos taken on their phone into their portfolio. The file sizes are quite large and with the amount of photos being uploaded, it is going to use up their storage space quite quickly.

I have told the students to reduce the settings on their camera but some of the phones are high resolution at their lowest setting it seems.

Does anyone have an idea of a way around this? I can see students being put off using the app and going back to the previous way of emailing themselves the photos from their phone, downloading images (compressing them if needed) and then uploading to Mahara which is such a long way.

It would be good if the app gave the user an option to choose the file size (small, med, large) and compress it like it can do in emails.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Anna,

Do you have auto-resizing of images turned on for your site?

Hi Anna,

So even with that option switched on the file size is still too large?

Cheers
