Help us test the Mahara 16.10 release candidate
02 September 2016, 17:19
Hello Mahara community,
The months between the releases of Mahara seem to be flying along and so it's already time again for a new release candidate. We are pleased to announce the 1st release candidate for Mahara version 16.10.
As usual, the release candidate phase is your time to give the upcoming version of Mahara a thorough test either on its own or ideally also updating one of your test servers so that you will know what that is going to be like.
If you run into any issues, please do let us know as we still have some time to fix up show stoppers before the stable release in the second half of October.
You can download the release candidate and give it a go.
Our new features are listed on Launchpad with the "nominatedfeature" tag.
While the list might look small, there are some major features included that make this a very exciting release.
The biggest new feature is that of SmartEvidence. You can watch a brief demo (sorry for the bad audio). We will also update the user manual as soon as possible so that you know how you can work with this functionality and set up your own competency framework files. Mahara does come with two sample frameworks that you can try out straight away. Simply enable SmartEvidence for an institution, create a collection and select a framework.
A lot of bugs were fixed for this release, and you can view the full list.
If you reported bugs and they have been fixed, pay particular attention to them and check that all is working now.
In case you find new bugs, please report them on Launchpad so they can consider to fix them before the 16.10.0 release:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+filebug
In case there are important bugs found that need fixing, we may produce a second release candidate. Otherwise, this release candidate will become the final 16.10.0 release.
You can use our developer instance to check out the new features of Mahara if you can't install it yourself.
We look forward to hearing from you how you like the new functionalities.
Cheers

Hello,
I made another video on SmartEvidence. Bette audio, longer and thus more detail, in particular also how you can set up your own competency framework file.
Cheers
