Hello,

Some of you noticed an increase in spam comments on pages and artefacts. Thank you for reporting these to us. The comments were added by people who do not have an account on mahara.org but comment anonymously. For the time being, we removed all spam comments and disabled anonymous commenting to prevent that more such spam comments can be created until a better fix is found.

Over the years we've implemented a series of spam protection measures to prevent spammers from misusing mahara.org and any other Mahara site for their purposes. Since spammers do come up with new ideas how to place their links, there are generally adjustments to be made after some time of relative quiet from them.

If you come across spam accounts or content that looks like spam, please report them to us so we can look into them and remove them.
