When they visit the Dashboard or Profile pages they get

MyPortfolio: Site unavailable

A nonrecoverable error occurred. This probably means you have encountered a bug in the system

Where can I look to see the specific error? Running NGINX, php-fpm, and MariaDB on Fedora 22

Whenever I see that message it is usually a plugin that needs updating. Removing/moving the plugin folders can get you back into your dashboard.

If you have your log location specified in the NginX config that will tell you where to look for it. If you change it to debug level reporting you will see everything that is causing issues. If you do not have a log specified then it will be in the default folder. Not sure about Fedora but it should be var/log/nginx.

Thanks for the suggestion. We seemed to have tracked it down to the myviews and newviews block. When we hid them in the admin plugins page then the profile and dashboard pages worked for the affected users. Now how can we go about restoring those plugins? One clue we have is that cron.php just gives a blank page without any output. Cron is at least partially working because emails are being sent by Mahara, but perhaps the cron task of building the myviews and newviews block content is not working?

Hello Colin,

It is normal that cron.php doesn't show anything but just a blank page. You'll need to go back to where you came from and you'll see any messages on the screen if you print errors to the screen.

Cheers

Kristina
