How the search bar functions?
26 January 2016, 21:57
Dear Maharares,
We are using MAHARA 15.10.1
Does anyone knows how the search bar works ?
We tried to test the search bar and this is what we've got:
- If a user has a composed first or last name, the search will return 0 result,
For example: First name: 'wadad' and last name: 'wazen gergy',
So, if we type in the search bar:- 'wadad' the system will find this user & all other users who have this match,
- 'wazen' the system will return 0 result,
- 'gergy' the system will return 0 result,
- 'wazen gergy' the system will return 0 result,
- If we don't type the complete first or last name, the search will return 0 result,
For example: First name: 'mario' and last name: 'gharib',
So, if we type in the search bar:- 'mario' the system will find this user & all other users who have this match,
- 'mar' the system will return 0 result,
Your assistance would be a great benefit
Mario Gharib.

Hello Mario,
Take a look at the user manual at http://manual.mahara.org/en/15.10/administration/extensions.html#search-internal-search and check your settings for the internal search. It depends on the use of display names and real names and whether exact search is turned on or not.
Cheers
