Renaming MNet Server in Moodle
09 September 2015, 7:14
Can I rename our Mahara MNet host in Moodle?
When our network admin set up our Mahara/Moodle connection, he used a Site name that is just slightly wrong and it's annoying the heck out of both my boss and the instructors.
It's the link text that appears in Moodle in the Network Servers block and appears to be configured in Administration > Networking > Peers > (site) > Site (field)

Hello Donna,
Yes, you can rename that since it's just a database entry that doesn't change anything on your configuration.
What I tend to do in the Moodle instances is actually rename the block "Network Servers" to something else that is less technical, e.g. "ePortfolio access" and then have the site name as link. I find that this makes it a bit more user friendly. And in Moodle you can change those strings easily. :-)

Kristina
Is it possible to rename "Network Servers" in Mahara too?
I have checked the language file and can't find it.
Thanks Rick

Hello Rick,
There is no GUI possibility in Mahara. You would create a local language pack. See https://wiki.mahara.org/wiki/Customising/Language_Strings for more infos.
