Mahara 1.10 can be used with Moodle 2.4 for MNet. The Mahara assignment submission plugins for Moodle may not work right out of the box as the development on merging them was started on a 2.5 / 2.6 codebase if I remember correctly. If you can work around the portfolio submission without using the submission plugin, you can connect both easily.

Southampton Solent University (Roger Emery and Sam Taylor) do the following (they don't use the plugins either), but need to keep the portfolios of the students when they are for assessment:

1. Students export their portfolio page / collection that is to be assessed as HTML export.
2. Students create a secret URL to their page / collection.
3. Students upload the HTML export to the Moodle assignment and paste the link to the secret URL into the assignment as well.
4. Instructor views the live portfolio via the secret URL and can download the HTML export to keep for their records.
