Hello Mahara users,

Spring / Fall are in full swing, and thus it is time for a new version of Mahara. Mahara contributors from around the world have been busy creating new features and fixing bugs.

https://launchpad.net/mahara/1.10/1.10.0

Before we go into all the details, we now also have a song for Mahara. Josh Woodward composed a TinyTune for us. Smile

Highlights include:

  • Sending notifications to multiple people
  • Entering links to current social media sites
  • Listing submitted collections on the group homepage instead of just all pages
  • Reporting objectionable content on forum topics and posts
  • Moving posts between forums
  • Dragging and dropping pages into a collection
  • Copying a secret URL with one click
  • The return of the simple, no-frills "Text" block alongside the more elaborate "Note" block
  • Editing the default dashboard page, profile page and group homepage in the site administrator interface

Other notable new features include:

  • Notifications for group and institution pages
  • Easier way of retracting blocks
  • Limiting the display of groups on the profile page and in the profile sidebar
  • Ignoring non-essential mandatory fields during CSV upload
  • Notifying a user when they are about to reach their quota
  • Experimental: Archiving of submitted portfolio pages
  • Experimental: Creating portfolio export of Leap2A files when system resources are available
  • Improvements for theme designers

Supported releases

Both Mahara 1.8 and 1.9 are still supported for security updates. The support for Mahara 1.8 will end with the release of the next version in April 2014, and the support for Mahara 1.9 will end in October 2015.

For more information, please see https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/SupportedVersions

If you are running a Mahara site lower than 1.8, we highly recommend you upgrade to 1.10 to receive security updates. Users of Mahara 1.8 and 1.9 can stay on their versions until that support runs out.

All site administrators running a supported version of Mahara are encouraged to subscribe to our security announcements:
