Mahara easy installers by Bitnami
18 October 2014, 3:44
Hello,
I'm Andres from Bitnami project. One of the aims of Bitnami is to simplify the deployment of popular web applications. We are working on the installer for Mahara application.
Please find below the links to the first cut of the Bitnami Mahara stacks. It would be great if you can test them on your side and let us know if you have any suggestions to improve them. The goal is to simplify the installation and configuration process for Mahara users.

Hi Andres,
It's always good to see Mahara available in up-to-date form, in more installation systems. If there are any changes we can make to better support your form of deployment, feel free to file a bug on our bug tracker (or upload a patch!)
I haven't had the time to actually try out the downloads, but from the filename it looks like you've based them on the Mahara 1.10rc1 release. This release is actually for testing purposes and isn't meant to be a stable production release (although we do keep a clean upgrade path from the rc releases to the .0 release).
The current stable release is 1.9.2. Probably the best way to keep up on which one is the latest stable version, is to use the "Download" link at the top of mahara.org. That'll take you to the Launchpad page for our current stable major version, and the latest minor release for that version will be on that page. Or if you want a fix that is entirely Launchpad based, you could go to https://launchpad.net/mahara/+series and look for the one that's labeled "Current Stable Release".
Cheers,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,
Thank you for your response! We have already tested the installer with the last stable release but Kristine, from the Mahara team, suggested us to test it with the 1.10 version.
It would be great if you could try it and give us some feedback about the installer. I can give you the links for the installer of the 1.9.2 version if you prefer to test it. I think we could publish the installers when the 1.10 version will be released.
Cheers,
Andres

Hi Andres,
Unfortunately I don't have time to test these installers out myself (unless you want to hire me to do it, in which case check out this page ).
But I do welcome the additional auto-installer stack. Maybe we should start a page on http://wiki.mahara.org to list 3rd-party Mahara installers...
I've also taken your account off of probation status so you can post links in the forum now (and I've edited your post to turn those into proper links).
Cheers,
Aaron
