Hi

We have our teaching staff encouraging their students to create a Mahara page, embed their entire (Work Experience) Journal within the page and post up-to-date entries to their journals. Staff add the students Journal pages to their watchlist but when students add a new journal entries (which obviously posts to the page if published) the staff do not receive notification of these entries.

Is there a way the staff receive notification as soon as the student has posted a published journal entry? This is so that when the student add their work placement entry, the teaching staff can quickly provide them with feedback.

Hello Ali,

In general, watchlist notifications are sent out when a page was changed. Depending on the settings of the individual users, these may not go out via email though. They would need to check their Settings -> Notifications.

Since you mention journal entries, I suspect that - if all other watchlist notifications are sent - no updates are sent because the block itself doesn't change.

Can you please confirm:

1. that watchlist notifications are sent when a user changes content in a text box or adds a new block to a page that is watched?
2. once noticiations are sent for 1 that no notifications are sent for journal entries when the block itself has not changed?
