Hello,

"Replacing MNet" has been on the radar of Moodle for some time now, but no concrete steps have been taken yet. It affects Mahara users as those who use both Moodle and Mahara use MNet to authenticate from Moodle into Mahara, the portfolio API etc.

We would like to invite you to answer the questions in this survey to let us know what you would like to be able to do in the future. Please do not worry about the technicalities, i.e. what specific authentication protocol os used, how difficult it is to change things in Moodle and Mahara etc. Please focus on the scenarios that you would like to be able to accomplish. We will collect all answers, analyze them and then come up with the technical solution.

Please feel free to forward the link to the survey to your colleagues, friends, tweet it and publicize it as widely as possible so that everyone who may want to have a say has the opportunity to let us know their ideal scenarios.

Hello,

Thank you very much to everyone who responded to our survey earlier in the year. It was great to get an overview of usage. Overview results are posted on the Moodle tracker item below.

Please find the high-level proposal for the MNet replacement on the Moodle tracker. Comments are welcome. We kept it to a high-level overview for the time being to gauge buy-in from the community and also Moodle HQ before going into details. The new way will be generic enough for plugin developers and others to develop their own integration points and also for Mahara to connect to systems other than Moodle.
