Hello,

I've installed mahara 1.7.2 and now I'm trying to intall and configure the Spanish language pack.

I dowloaded the language pack from the url

http://langpacks.mahara.org/es-1.7_STABLE.tar.gz

then I uncompressed it in the folder langpacks that is located under the dataroot directory.

The problem is that my "Site options" page doesn't have a list to select the Spanish language, it only shows language English written.

In a second attempt, I configured $cfg->langpacksearchpaths = array($cfg->dataroot.'/langpacks/xx.utf8'); in my config.php file, but the result was the same.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Rosa

hello,

Your Spanish lang folder (I suppose es.uf8) must be placed directly at the top level of the ....../var/maharadata/langpacks/ folder.

Moreover, you must check the ownerships and right for all the content of the langpacks folder.

The best is to start giving all rights and come back an limit then to something more coherent when everything is working fine.

A

chmod -R 777 langpacks

chown -R www-data:www-data langpacks

should make it.

Then try again and normaly the menu should appears on the top of the front page.

Also, please clear your caches, on the web server and on the web browser.

Also, sometimes if you delete the langpacks, let's Mahara recreate it and then reinstall the en.utf8, make the server happy.

Cheers,

Hi Rosa,

I tried it just now, using the http://langpacks.mahara.org/es-1.7_STABLE.tar.gz pack with Mahara 1.7.2, and was able to successfully install and use the site in Spanish. So, it should be possible to get it up and running. As Dajan suggested, please check your file permissions.

After installing, I did notice one obvious problem. In the language selector menu, the entry for Spanish was "Inglés". Embarassed I'll see if I can update the langpack contents under https://translations.launchpad.net/mahara-lang to fix that.

Cheers,

Aaron
