Dear people,

Is there anybody willing helping out integrating this skin into TinyMCE in Mahara?

http://tinymce.swis.nl

Also it would be great to enable the resize function so that a user can drag the editor to the size he/she wants.

Greetings,

Volker Schmidt

Hello Volker,

We used to have the resize option of TinyMCE available. However, it caused some issues in at least one browser if I remember correctly and thus we dropped it in favor of the fullscreen option. But please try it again. The issues might have been resolved.

Cheers

Hi Kristina,

yes I remember, I am actually using Mahara since v.0.8x. The resize function is actually not so important but the skin I mentioned is. I did not get further than including the script into web.php ... but no success.

Do you no anybody who is willing to help out?

Greetings,

Volker

Hello Volker,

Thanks for the further information. A user since 0.8? Wow. You must be one of the very first to use Mahara. :-) Great to see you in the forums now as well.

You can come along to the next developer meeting and see if there is one who's interested in tinkering with TinyMCE with you or see if someone turns up here in the forums and says "Yes, me".

Cheers

Hi Kristina,

thnaks for the invitation, it is a bit short notice for me so I doubt that I can make it. Where will it be held?

It will be held online (#mahara-dev IRC channel). If you don't have IRC client, you can attend, using your browser. All information and instructions are available here.

I have not looked at TinyMCE in a while, but if I my understanding is correct, the only thing that you need to do is to copy the theme into the TinyMCE theme directory.  Then look for the "init" function and change the theme that is called to the "ribbon" theme.

The code is given in the documenation example:

http://tinymce.swis.nl/documentation

As for the resize option, that is also just turning a flag on/off.  The configuration of the toolbards shows you how to enable that function -- which is the same technique for any function.

Here are all of the features that are available:

http://www.tinymce.com/tryit/full.php

Here is the configuration documentation, which includes maximum and minimum values for resizing:

http://www.tinymce.com/wiki.php/Configuration

And here are all of the buttons that are available:

http://www.tinymce.com/wiki.php/Buttons/controls

Hope this helps,

Melissa

Melissa hi. Had the same idea - to copy theme files to TinyMCE themes folder and change the init function, but it doesn't work...

Same here,

I tried that too or actually I changed the web.php file but no success.

Thanks for the tip with the resize function, I think it is usefull even to change the fixed size. It gives Mahara with the theme that I am working on a cleaner look and more approchable...at least I hope.

Online meeting is no problem by the way, until then.

Greetings,

Volker

Has anybody tried to use this theme in another applicatio, for example Joomla?  I am just curious if the problem is specific to way Mahara is implementing TinyMCE vs. maybe something wrong with the theme.
