Hi everyone

I would like to know if its possible to share a file (PDF) with any member of a specified institution across many groups in Mahara with a reference to a hyperlink, which the end user can download the file irrespective of being a member of a specified group.

Currently, I can only see through the files tab in a group where the group owner can upload a file and subsequently any member of the group can access the file, provided if they have the URL.

Regards,

Sandeep

Hello Sandeep,

Normally, when you want to share artefacts, i.e. also files, with other users on Mahara, you place them into a page because you can only share pages with other people. In groups you can share files with the group members without having to place them into a portfolio page.

So in order to do what you want to do, I suggest the following:

  1. Upload your file to your personal space / to an institution page
  2. Put the file into a page
  3. Share the page with your institution members. From Mahara 1.5 on you can share a page directly will all members of your institution (if you have institutions set up; otherwise it would be to share with all logged-in users).

Cheers

Kristina
