We're planning to add the Google apps option, and have it in our test environment now. I am linking to one of my Google docs but it just won't load. I have tried the URL, but my understanding is that the following is the correct way to do this in the Google doc: File>Publish to the web and then copy the embedded code in the iframe. Here is the iframe for the document I'm using: <iframe src="https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1GBtu_6VD191_R3FSiOFpweYSBSVOWlclecq4kIMug64&amp;embedded=true"></iframe> and here is the link https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1GBtu_6VD191_R3FSiOFpweYSBSVOWlclecq4kIMug64

I have also tried this in the demo site http://demo.mahara.org/

Our technician has also had no luck. Am I doing this the right way?

Hi Gillian,

I can assure you that you are doing it correctly. However the problem is with Google.

See, what Google does, on occasion, is change the urls that it gives its users through the publish or share wizards. The new urls don't necessarily exist in our filters.

We'll be working on a more sustainable way to use the google apps for 1.6, but sadly not in time for 1.5.

The upcoming 1.5 version will however have lots of fixes for the google apps, and I just checked your URL against the new fixes and it should work. demo.mahara.org's code is from a few weeks ago doesn't have all of the google apps fixes yet.

Thanks,
Melissa.

Thank you, Melissa. We will take Google apps out of our little upgrade. We added some bug fixes, and it seemed like a good time to test the Google apps, as some students and staff have asked for them.

Hello Gillian,

Are you thinking about upgrading to Mahara 1.5? If so, you could at least work with all things Google that come with an iFrame as long as you add the base URL (usually up to the first or second / ) to the code. There will be an admin interface for Mahara 1.6.

Melissa put a tracker item up with suggestions of how to deal with Google URLs in the future:

Yes, we are going to upgrade, but when is another issue. I keep pushing but it's not my decision. We are focused on going to Moodle2 right now, and I am hoping to get some traction re 1.5 with or soon after that. We are having some issues about the public view option which I see we should be able to control for students in 1.5. (I will post separately on this.)

Hello Gillian,

Correct, in Mahara 1.5 you can disable public pages based on an institution.

However, as you want to connect your Mahara to Moodle this wouldn't really be an option for you. One Moodle can only be connected to one institution in Mahara and not multiple ones.

Cheers
