Hi,

We are new at Mahara. We have started working with it this course. In the first journal that one of our students has published we can't see some of the pictures. We only see the pictures contained in the first and last entries:

The same happens with the spanish version of the journal:

I have verified the CHMOD permissions and everything seems to be alright. When right clicking on the link of a disappeared image to view it, we are asked to log in. After login, the image can be seen.

Any ideas about what is happening?

Thank you,

Juan Ezeiza

Hi Juan, My initial suspicion would be that cron isn't running. Failing that, check your apache error log (/var/log/apache2/error.log) to see if there's any problems cropping up when you access the files, and when the cron runs. Andrew

Thank you for your answer, Andrew.

Having a look at the apache error log I've realised that there was a problem with a non standard artefact (MyLearning).  I've uninstalled the artefact. However, I can't see the images. In the admin page the cron seems to run properly, but when I've run it manually I've obtained this error log:

[Sun Oct 23 18:01:42 2011] [error] [client 88.13.186.23] [DBG] 69 (lib/cron.php:45) ---------- cron running Sun, 23 Oct 2011 18:01:42 +0200 ----------
[Sun Oct 23 18:01:42 2011] [error] [client 88.13.186.23] [DBG] 69 (lib/cron.php:168) ---------- cron finished Sun, 23 Oct 2011 18:01:42 +0200 ----------

Any ideas of what's happening?

Best regards,

Juan

Hello Juan,

How were the images included in the blog? Were they attached to the post or was their URL copied from the files area? If the latter is the case, the image won't have the correct permissions attached to it. An internal image needs to be attached to a blog post first and then you can choose it from the image picker in the editor.

Cheers

Kristina

Hello Kristina,

You are right. The student was copying the URL instead of attaching the images. I should have explained better the procedure to my students.

Thank you, Kristina, I was becoming crazy.

Cheers,

Juan

Hello Juan,

This is a common problem with the journal entry editor. Glad that it is not a permissions or cron problem.

Cheers

Kristina

After talking with Juan and doing a bit of debugging, we've discoverd it's a bug in Mahara (present in 1.4 and master, at least).

I'll open a bug and submit a fix for review in a couple of days or so.

Saludos.
Iñaki.
