I'm trying to create a template page to share with students.

I can create a page, then use the share tab to set options.

Once the page has been saved/edited the share tab no longer works and gives http 500 error

Hello Paul,

Can you please let us know which version of Mahara you are using? Can you replicate that problem on demo.mahara.org going through the same steps as on your isntall?

Cheers

Kristina

Hi Kristina,

I'm using 1.4.0

Since posting my original query I found a post on a forum that said if cron is not running that can give errors with page sharing.

The RSS block is also not working

The problem didn't occur on the demo.mahara.org server.

What do you think?

thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

It is indeed worth checking to make sure that the Mahara cron is running because that will also prevent the RSS feeds from updating.

Cheers,

Francois

Is it also true that cron needs to be running to allow pages to be shared.
I don't understand the link.

Hi,

The cron service is now running, which is great.

RSS Feeds work, we're getting emails sent notifying staff of submitted pages and "Topics I'm following" has content.

BUT The most important feature I need, ability for users to share pages, is still not working.

Google Chrome returns an Internal Server error 500

Any help greatly received..

Teachers want to add evidence for students' pages (students need to be able to share page) before student completes page for submission.

thank you

Paul

SOLVED:

The problem was that mbstring PHP extension was not installed.

Hope this helps anyone else who finds share pages does not work.

Hi Paul,

Can you give us more information about your setup? OS, how you installed php, etc

If php isn't being installed with mbstring enabled as a general rule, then we should be checking for that, so please feel free to open a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+filebug

Thanks,
Melissa
