Creating RPM packages for Mahara

Hi,

Recently we had to create some scripts to help build RPM packages for Mahara for a client. Luckily the client wanted us to open source these scripts.
They are available from github: https://github.com/liip/mahararpmpkg

Who is this for?
This is interesting mainly for people who are in charge of installing and maintaining Mahara instances.

What can you do with this?
These scripts allow you to build an RPM (RedHat) package from your (customised) Mahara code base. The generated package can then be installed on a RedHat or CentOS machine with the systems package manager (Fedora should also work but has not been tested).
It should be possible to install several mahara instances on the same server (i.e. one per client).

If you're interested just give it a try.
Any feedback is welcome.

Cheers
Adrian

Hello Adrian,

That sounds great! Thanks for making this available to the community.

You should create a wiki page under https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/System_Administrator%27s_Guide/Installing_Mahara (your mahara.org login works on the wiki). Then your code should be found more easily.

Cheers

Hi Kristina,

Thx, for the hint. As you suggested I added a short hint in the wiki:
