HI

I am very new to Mahara and am trying embed a voki into a view however cannot get it to show any assistance greatly appresiated.

Hello Kathryn,

Thanks for starting to use Mahara. Embedding a Voki is easy.

1. Create your Voki.
2. Click on "Publish your Voki"
3. Copy the standard embed code that is is displayed below all the icons in the pop-up.
4. Go to a page in Mahara and click on the Edit button.
5. Choose the Textbox under the "General" tab.
6. Click on the HTML button in the editor (last icon on the right in the top menu bar).
7. Paste the embed code in the window that ops up.
8. Click on Update.
9. Save the text box.
10. Your Voki should be displayed.

We are using Mahara 15.10 and a free version of Voki.

When trying to embed Voki as external media (the Voki icon appears as a valid resource in Mahara) we get an error Invalid URL.

Voki appears not to give embed code (at least in the free version) it only gives a URL.

Following the steps given to embed a Voki just displays the URL to click on, not the actual Voki - is this the intended outcome?

Glad to see you on the Mahara Forums!

I've had a play with the Voki characters on:

http://www.voki.com/site/create

It appears that the embedded code will only work for the paid version of Voki - as you mentioned. So, if you put in the URL, that is what will be displayed on the page.

You can edit the link settings:

1. Edit the text field.
2. Select the url
3. Select the link icon ('Insert/edit link' if you hover over it) in the toolbar.
4. Enter some meaningful text in the 'Text to display' field.
5. Click ok.

This will at least display some nicer text instead of the URL.

Thanks for this suggestion, however what is being reported by Jacqui is a bug in the External Media block configuration.

This bug is also present on this Mahara site.
