Does the Mahara.org navigation menu display along the right side due to the theme used on this site? If so, what theme is it? (I find that navigation menu MUCH easier to use than the top-bar menu.)

thanks  ~  Patrick

Hi,

the navigation menu mahara.org uses is a specuial theme developed from Catalyst. Would be great if the community takes the challange to "clone" it ,-)

 HTH

Indeed we made a sideblock to put the navigation in. It's not that hard to do, you just need to write a sideblock template and make sure that sideblock is included on the right pages (by editing the smarty function in lib/web.php).

As far as I know, the plan for future is to make the top navigation be pulldown menus which should prove to be even easier to use.

I'm working on pulldownmenu's right now but get stuck in the Mahara templating system. When I add the javascript code in head.tpl I get weird errors in Mahara:

Fatal error: Exception thrown without a stack frame in Unknown on line 0

Why is this?

What I want is this: we have tight Moodle/Mahara integration. I want the Moodlemenu to be the same in Mahara. It's a pulldown menu based on quickmenu and I want the menuitems to be exactly the same in Mahara and Moodle.

Hi Richard,
Many of the team are away until Monday as it's summer holiday here in NZ. We'll check this out for you though - I'm interested in the direction you're taking - keen to see how a tight Moodle/Mahara integration would look. I see some real benefits in a strong bridge between the two apps.

cheers
Richard

Grr.. justed typed a reply and it got lost because Mahara.org was offline for a brief while.

New try, but shorter and maybe not understandable...

The menu will be loaded from an external place into the header of Mahara AND Moodle. However links that refer to something like http://www.mysite.com/viewuser.php?userid=xxx will not work. The link will be different if you are in Mahara or Moodle at the time the menu is loaded.

I'm still trying to get somewhere thought :)
