Mahara portfolio for the Arts
10 June 2026, 22:32
Hi all!
At our Uni, we have received a request for example portfolios specifically designed for the Arts (and Music). We are looking for interesting examples where the portfolio author / owner used skins to create an attractive showcase portfolio to be shared with the outside world. This is particularly relevant as students (and faculty) in our Arts and Music departments have a strong opinion on the general Mahara theme we're using (as it reflects our Uni's corporate identity).
Where do I start looking?

Hi Joost,
University of the Arts London has heaps of examples of public student portfolios on its Mahara site 'Workflow'. Every tile on the homepage is a different portfolio. As far as I know, the students don't use skins though, but instead work with their artefacts that are then designed. The site itself is very monochrome so as not to draw attention so much to Mahara, but give the content its space.
If you are looking for portfolio examples that use skins, Dublin City University has several on 'Loop Reflect'. The help resources have a 'Featured Portfolios' section with lots of portfolios using skins. In his recent podcast interview, Rob Lowney, a Senior Learning Technologist at DCU, did mention that they encourage students and love it when they create skins to personalise their portfolios.
Cheers
Kristina
