Moving content from Moodle to Mahara
Yesterday, 9:38
Hi everyone,
I received the following questions and wanted to share the answers with everyone as some others might wonder the same:
---
We have a few questions regarding the automation of content transfer between Mahara and Moodle.
Specifically, we would like to understand:
- Is there is a way to automatically push certificates and badges issued in Moodle directly into a learner's Mahara portfolio?
- Can completed Moodle assignments or form submissions be automatically sent to Mahara as artefacts or evidence, without requiring manual action from the learner/supervisor?
For each of these, I would also appreciate your guidance on:
- Whether this is supported natively, via a plugin, or requires custom development
- The level of technical effort involved in setting it up
- Any known limitations or version requirements
---
It is not possible to push certificates and badges from Moodle into Mahara with current functionality. You would place your Moodle badges into a backpack first, such as Open Badge Passport, and can then pull them into Mahara from there using the 'Badges' section.
You cannot send completed assignments from Moodle to Mahara either. That used to be possible via MNet, but is not possible via LTI because Mahara is not yet an LTI consumer. When we surveyed the community a while ago about this functionality, there was not much uptake at all and thus we focussed on allowing the submission of portfolios. If you'd like to look into making it possible to transfer content from Moodle to Mahara, please provide a proposal for it. 🙂
Thank you
Kristina
