Encoding problem with MNET
06 January 2024, 9:17
Hello,
We're actually using 23.04 (yes) since yesterday! But we're having this problem from last summer upgrade to Mahara 22.10.
All users are connected through MNET from a moodle. User firstname or lastname with diactrics see misinterpreted character changed to a ?. For example, my name is Stéphane Lavoie and it becomes St?phane Lavoie in Mahara.
Our Moodle DB is encoded utf8mb4_unicode_ci running mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.6.14-MariaDB, for Linux (x86_64)
Our Mahara DB is encoded in utf8mb4_bin running mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.3.21-MariaDB, for Linux (x86_64).
How can we fix this problem?

Hi Stéphane,
This forum post might be related to your issue: Login/User creation not working for some users with Moodle webservice_xmlrpc plugin .
There is a patch associated to that forum post in the pipeline: https://git.mahara.org/catalyst/mahara/-/issues/184
Kind regards,
Doris
