Block instructions - can they be collapsed by default in editing view?

Hi

I have a template which includes a number of blocks.  Each block has instructions added.  When someone takes a copy of the template and goes to edit a block, the instructions are not collapsed.  This causes confusion as it's easy to start typing in the instructions editor box, rather than the block content editor box.   Is there a setting somewhere that lets us keep the instructions collapsed by default (in edit mode)?

Thanks

Yvonne

Hi Yvonne,

There is no setting for the functionality to collapse instructions by default.

When your students copy a page set as a template, the instructions aren't editable if you have Mahara 20.10 or newer. Can you please check if you have set your portfolio pages as templates? See the page's template setting (#15 in the screenshot) in the manual.

If you want collapsed instructions, you can change your code to accomplish that. For Mahara core, we decided to display instructions immediately in 'Edit' mode because we expect that instructions are needed while editing a portfolio. Having it uncollapsed prevents additional clicks from viewing them.

Kind regards,

Doris
