Hi,

Yesterday we upgraded a Mahara application from 19.04 > 21.04 and this largely seems to have all went well. The only issues we've identified is that now when trying to view any messages that were exchanged between two users prior to the upgrade, we're getting an access denied error. This is applicable to all users, regardless if they are an admin for example. Any messages exchanged post upgrade seem to work fine and can be viewed without issue. This only seems to be affecting messages directly between users and not system messages. Is this something that has been encountered before or can anyone offer any advice as to how to we can debug this further or ensure that legacy messages between users are viewable again?

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andrew,

What is the URL that the error is appearing on?

The last time we saw a problem like that was for Mahara 15.04. Please see the bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/1414783 and the fix for it. Do you still have some of that code in your codebase?

Please also check your error logs to see if anything odd happened during the upgrade. If you find an error, feel free to reply back with your stack trace and I can see if I can help pinpoint the cause.

Kind regards,

Doris
