Hello folks, can some of you tell me about the hardware and software requirements of your Mahara installations?  Do tell.  Thanks.

Hi - If you're used to Moodle, Mahara is a lightweight version of that. It has similar characteristics - it's CPU bound, RAM usage per page is 7 - 10M but can spike to 40M if parsing a big RSS file. The database is generally small, while the dataroot directory is larger - its size and rate of growth will depend on how many users you have and what quota you give them.

In terms of software - PHP 5.1.3 or greater, PostgreSQL 8.1 or later (or MySQL 5.0.32 or later if you _have_ to but it's not recommended), any version of Apache and most linuxes are fine. People have had success on MacOS and Solaris, but that's not officially supported. Much less success on Windows, Mahara 1.1 will address this somewhat but it still won't be officially supported.

Hope that helps - to give better information I'd need some numbers about number of users you expect over what time period, etc.

Nigel, that helps.  I am in the process of scoping requirements, so let me investigate and get back with you.  Again, thanks for the support. I also go input from others in the community.  It seems that the subtle advantage to Mahara is the dedication of you all and the cooperative nature of the community.
