Mahara slow to load from outside connection
25 January 2018, 17:43
Hello,
I am banging my head against the wall and hoping the community can help.
I am running Mahara version 17.04.3 on an Ubuntu 16.04.3 server. When I connect from within the local network it loads super fast with no issues. But when connecting from outside (http://isyedu.org.mm:2001/mahara) the site simply does not load. I even changed my maharadata permissions to 777. When I simply try to access the directory (http://isyedu.org.mm:2001) from outside, no problem. But when I go into the mahara folder everything slows to a halt.
Does anyone have any advice on this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hey Mike,
Are you using Apache or Nginx for the web server? Are you on PHP7? Have you looked at any logs? Does the folder the Mahara files are in have the web server user as the owner, this is usually www-data.
This is where I would start.

I am using mysql and using apache and I think I have identified the problem but still need help.
I think it must be the way I have my etc/hosts configured
127.0.0.1 localhost
121.54.164.26:2001 isyedu.org.mm:2001/mahara
I know the above is incorrect syntax with the port number and subfolder.
As i said before, one can connect to isyedu.org.mm:2001 easily and see the mahara folder. But once you go into the folder everything breaks.
Any advice?
