Hi all,

I searched for information on this in the site but found none:

Our school has changed name and thus our Moodle installation that is networked with our Mahara has changed name. I wonder whether I can change the name of the institution that the Moodle users are in, or whether that would influence their access to their files, pages and/or groups.

Hi Paul,

An institution has both an internal name (recorded under 'name' in db) and a display to users name (recorded under 'displayname' in db)

It should be perfectly fine to change the Institution display name via the admin interface.

But don't change the other one (Institution name) as that will cause problems.
