Fresh WAMP/Mahara install fails

Hi Clint,

I am reading the thread here about your problems with WAMP.

Many years of a small experience of using WAMP and MAMP in different contexts make me think that it is not the best solution to run web apps, such Mahara or Moodle.

I would say that using a virtualisation software such as VMWare or Virtual Box and then installing a "true" unix distribution would give you more freedom and provide a better environment for your web solution.

WAMP and MAMP are interesting but not flexible enough, in my point of view.

Thanks -dajan

I appreciate the input as I muddle my way through this... In fact everyone's been very helpful.
Cheers

Dajan,

I agree. My experience has made me realise that XAMPP etc.. is fine for local desktop testing, but for full systems it's better to have a dedicated server (most likely virtual) setup for web apps.
