Although I know WAMP is not supported for Mahara, is anyone successfully running it on WAMP? I have it up and running, and it looks very nice. However, after uploading several files including a 8 MB powerpoint file and creating a view, Mahara runs so slow it never gets anywhere and hangs. I don't know if it doesn't like the file size or the file type. It ran fine until creating the view. Any ideas?

hi Mark,

Great to see you experimenting. What can you tell us about your WAMP setup (versions of Apache, PHP, etc - are you using XAMPP?)... and about what went wrong? (anything appearing in the Apache logs?

Hi, Myles, I'm running Wampserver 2.0 by Anaska. It's PHP 5.2.6, Apache 2.2.8, MySQL 5.0.51b. I don't see anything in any of the logs to indicate any kind of problem. I have some other applications on the same server and they continue running ok even when Mahara is locked up.

Basically, I added some files as a user, built a view, and then the Mahara installation hung up. One of my files was a 8MB powerpoint file and the user's space limit was 10MB. I figured out yesterday that if I restarted all services under WAMP, I could get back into Mahara. I went in and bumped that user's limit to 100MB, and everything seems to be running ok now. So I don't know if that limit is the real issue or not. I would hate for 1 user to be able to crash the system because they reached their limit.

That problem has not been reported in any other installation of Mahara, it's more likely to be to do with the installation on wamp. Could you describe the symptoms of the 'lock up'? What were you trying to do and what did Mahara do?

Hello Mark,

I managed to set up Mahara in wampserver, and use the site to play with the code (mainly for personalizing the theme).

I wrote the steps for doing so in the Mahara old wiki:  (not tinyurl, sorry)
