Clean URLs [SOLVED]

I made the mistake of regenerating clean URLs and hasdto resort to restoring a backed up database from the previous day.
All newly created users now (MNET SSO) coming from Moodle has the clean URLs format for their profile pages etc. Is there a way I can stop this?

As long as I remember, if you disable clean URL from the admin interface and also in the config.php file, your users will then access their profile and page the "old" way.Regards

Removed:
$cfg->cleanurls = true;
$cfg->cleanurlusersubdomains = true;
from config.php
