Mahara 1.6 has now entered feature freeze.
06 August 2012, 20:27
Hi all,
Mahara 1.6 has now entered feature freeze. We will no longer accept features for the 1.6 series, effective immediately.
What does this mean?
This means that from now, we will:
- Not accept new changes that add brand new functionality or features.
- Not accept changes that add new functionality to existing features.
- Only commit bug fixes to the 1.6 branch which fixes functionality that already exists.
- Postpone future code for features for the 1.7 branch.
How does this affect me?
This freeze is about features. Features are items which are not flaws in current functionality, but rather add brand new, or enhanced functionality.
Bugs are still fair game. If you find one, let us know! In fact, bugfixing is the entire point of this freeze.
Why are you doing this?
We do this to allow us to focus our attention on bugfixing in the final stretch of the release period. Because we are not introducing new functionality that can potentially contain bugs, we are avoiding adding to to the bugfixing workload, resulting in a cleaner product.
If you have any questions about the 6 monthly release cycle, please ask.
Thanks for helping us make Mahara better!
